At Swimming Safari we believe it’s never too early nor too late to learn to enjoy the water! We have developed an adult lesson plan that will help students of all ages and skill levels achieve their goals. Our instructors are trained to help you overcome any water-related fears or hesitations in a gentle manner. The lessons advance at a pace that ensures your progress, while maintaining a feeling of comfort in the water. We have helped adults overcome their lifelong fears of the water, prepare for the Navy’s and Police Department’s swim tests, and simply improve their techniques. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you on becoming safe, confident, and comfortable in the water.
Adult Level 1: Beginner
Level 1 is designed for individuals who are non-swimmers, fearful swimmers, or those who cannot roll to their backs for breathing. The focus of this level is to establish comfort in the water, teaching buoyancy, balance, and breath control. Additionally, participants will be introduced to flutter kick and freestyle arms.
Prerequisites: None
Goals: comfortable and confident in the water, achieving 30-second breath control, swimming 30 feet with flutter kicks, and demonstrating the ability to transition from a swim to back float multiple times.
Adult Level 2: Intermediate
Level 2 is intended for swimmers who can swim 30 feet in shallow water, breathe, and understand flutter kicks. This level emphasizes building confidence in deep water, learning side breathing, and introducing backstroke and breaststroke.
Prerequisites: comfortable and confident in the water, achieving 30-second breath control, swimming 30 feet with flutter kicks, and demonstrating the ability to transition from a swim to back float multiple times.
Goals: confident jumping into deep water, swim 25 yards freestyle with proper side breathing, swim 25 yards backstroke, and demonstrate the ability to tread water.
