Our Instructors

​Safari Guides

We understand our swim lessons are only as good as our instructors. Which is why we take special care to ensure that all of our staff is enthusiastic, energetic, and experienced working with children. We place a lot of emphasis on training and developing our staff into highly qualified swim instruction professionals.

Our instructors are required to:

  • Train for a minimum of 35 hours with a Swimming Safari Master Instructor. Our Instructors also must pass comprehensive instructor exams in and out of the water.
  • Maintain current C.P.R & First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults through the The American Red Cross.

  • Joani

    Hi, My name is Joani Maskell, but everyone calls me “Ms. Joani.” I am so excited to be part of a terrific team to help keep Jacksonville safe by teaching all to learn to swim. Our instructors are all dedicated and also very thrilled to be able to help the children in our communities learn to swim. Every time I get in the water with a child or adult, I am very honored that they have put their faith in me to be able to help them on the journey of learning to swim. For me, it’s always a wonderful and challenging experience, and I look forward to every single day!

    Hi! My name is Casey Del Prete, and I have had the joy of working at Swimming Safari since April of 2011 when I started as an instructor. Since starting at Swimming Safari I have received my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. Go Ospreys! I do the majority of my work at Swimming Safari in the office and behind the scenes. Occasionally I get the opportunity to sneak away to the pool to teach some lessons. I truly enjoy passing on my love for the water to students of all ages. I hope to have the opportunity to help your swimmer become Safe, Confident, and Comfortable in the water.

    My name is Sara and have been living in Jacksonville for twelve years. I’ve been swimming for as long as I can remember and have been on swim teams my whole life. I’ve had years of experience working in Daycares and helping children swim. It’s very enjoyable to see our youth constantly learning. I work at the Front Desk and in the water. Chances are I will see or talk to all of you. My favorite part of Swimming Safari, is being so hands-on, in every aspect, of making your lessons enjoyable!

    Hi! My name is Caitlin. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. I enjoy baking, exercising, and scuba diving. I learned to swim at a very young age and spent the majority of all of my summers in the water. I was on a swim team from 7th to 12th grade. I find being in the water and teaching students to swim very rewarding. I cannot wait to help each student reach their goals in the water!

    Hey there! My name is Keilyn. I learned to swim when I was still in diapers, and been drawn to the water ever since. I was on my high school varsity swim team and will continue to compete throughout my college career at the University of North Florida. Not only do I have a love for swimming, but also for teaching, whether it is adults or children of all ages. Swimming Safari has given me the opportunity to do all the things I am passionate about. I am eager to share my experience and will strive to help every student become a safe and confident swimmer!”

    HEY! I’m Pablo, also known as the loudest instructor ever ; I like to “Instr-play” which basically means I instruct while playing ; however, my goal is to have your children swimming like terrific FISH!

    My name is Cassidy. I have been living in Jacksonville for the past 5 years, originally from New Hampshire. I graduated from Jacksonville University with a BS in Exercise Science. I love swimming and can’t wait to help teach your child to become a safer and stronger swimmer.

    My name is Kris. The kids call me Ms. Kris, and I’ve been swimming for over 40 years. I began teaching swimming in the 80’s with the American Red Cross, and years later with the YMCA. Now, I am delighted to be a part of the Swimming Safari team. I look forward to working with your little Swimmer!

    Hi, my name is Brian! I attend FSCJ and major in Business Administration. I have lived in Atlantic Beach my entire life and have spent as much time as possible in the ocean and pools. My goal is to teach your children how to be safe swimmers and also make them the best swimmers possible.

    Hi! My name is Robyn Baumann and I am originally from Long Island, New York. I took swimming lessons from as far back as I can remember until we moved to Florida when I was eight. In high school I competed on a Varsity swimming team that allowed me to make friends that I will have for the rest of my life! Now in Jacksonville attending the University of North Florida, I am fortunate enough to have come full circle from being a swim student to being a part of Swimming Safari that teaches the lifelong skill of swimming that everyone deserves to have!

    I’m currently in school at SJRSC to get my AA and plan to transfer to UNF in the future. I learned to swim at a young age and have enjoyed being in the water ever since. I’m excited to get children interested in swimming too.

    My Name is Alex and I have been living and swimming in Florida my entire life. I’m currently a student at UNF in the Nutrition program. I love teaching and coaching all sports, but my favorites are soccer and swimming! I look forward to seeing the students grow and improve into strong swimmers

Being in the water and helping others learn to swim is one of my favorite thins to do. I believe everyone could be an Olympic Swimmer if they wanted to be.

    My name is Andy and I have been in Jacksonville all my life. I grew up playing every sport under the sun. I swam for Atlantic Coast High School. I have been apart of countless youth mentoring activities. I love being hands on, and teaching. I hope to make learning to swim fun for your child.

    My name is Trevor and I am currently working towards a bachelors degree in Biological Sciences at UNF. My dad taught me how to swim when I was 2 years old. I’m excited at the opportunity to pass the passion for the water he instilled in me along to my students. I also enjoy teaching children how to skateboard, and have done so at skate camps like Camp Woodward and here locally at youth centered events like Color Me Kona.

I’ve been an outdoors-men all my life and grew up swimming, biking, running, and doing all kinds of things outdoors. I have been swimming my entire life and if I’m not in the pool then you can find me in the ocean free-diving with sharks and turtles. I can’t wait to start working with your children. I love watching them learn and grow.
